Digital Twins (DT) and the Metaverse are distinct yet often conflated paradigms in digital architecture. DTs are data-driven replicas of physical systems, integrating IoT, BIM, and analytics for real-time decision-making. In contrast, the Metaverse comprises immersive, multi-user virtual environments shaped by social and speculative narratives. XR-Lab’s research examines their divergence in purpose, data structures, immersion, and interactivity, while also identifying areas of convergence enabled by AI and Extended Reality (XR). Through interdisciplinary projects, my team explores how these technologies reshape spatial experience and digital design practice.
