As a tenured professor within the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning, he merges his architecture and digital technology expertise to push the boundaries of Architecture, engineering, construction (AEC), and spatial computing. Tang\u2019s professional qualifications include being a registered architect, NCARB,\u00a0and LEED AP. His leadership roles extend to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/2026.hci.international\/vamr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HCII VRMR<\/a>\u00a0program board, UC\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ai.uc.edu\/about\/aiecp\/research-committee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AI in Research<\/a>\u00a0committee,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.artsci.uc.edu\/iris\/about.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0Institute for Research in Sensing (IRiS)<\/a>\u00a0leadership committee, and the editor of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/journal\/architecture\/special_issues\/4XT4948VIT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Architecture<\/a>\u00a0Journal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>XR-Lab facilities<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"493\">The XR Lab is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, including high-performance VR-ready workstations configured with leading development platforms such as Unity and Unreal Engine, as well as a comprehensive suite of 3D modeling and animation software. These systems are integrated with a diverse range of head-mounted displays (HMDs), including Meta Quest Pro, Quest 3, Quest 2, Rift, HTC Vive Pro Eye, and Vive Elite, supporting both standalone and tethered immersive applications.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"495\" data-end=\"1200\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The lab is further augmented by advanced sensing and interaction technologies, including Tobii eye-tracking glasses and screen-based eye-tracking systems for behavioral analysis. Additional capabilities include a KAT VR treadmill for embodied navigation, Sony Mocopi for full-body motion capture, and Kinect-based motion sensing. Environmental sensors\u2014monitoring temperature, humidity, sound, air quality, and lighting\u2014enables context-aware simulations. The lab also incorporates Microsoft HoloLens devices for mixed reality applications and 360-degree cameras for high-fidelity reality capture, supporting a wide spectrum of research in immersive environments and human-centered computing.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to its dedicated resources, the XR-Lab benefits from access to shared facilities within the Digital Futures building and the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP), fostering a collaborative and innovative environment for exploring the vast potential of extended reality technologies.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" 1030px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>The VR\/AR Center at Digital Futures<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The VR\/AR center at Digital Future features a 20&#215;30 ft. 14-camera (Arqus 5 Wide) Qualisys motion capture volume for full-body, facial, and hand tracking, a 20&#215;30 ft. multi-user VR volume for up to four simultaneous users, and a variety of AR\/VR systems such as the Microsoft Hololens 2, high-end tethered systems (Vive Pro 2, HP G2 Reverb Omnicept, Varjo VR2) with HP VR backpacks, and portable all-in-one systems (Oculus Quest 2, Vive Focus 3).<\/p>\n<p>Additional capabilities also include a whole-body (Teslasuit) and hand (Manus) haptic feedback, Biometric data capture (eye-tracking, heart rate, skin response), Shimmer GSR sensor, 360 video filming services (Insta360), AR\/VR and
