In the Building Safety Analysis with Machine Learning, I guided the UC team as the PI and created a building image database to train an intelligent machine, a deep-learning algorithm. The AI aims to learn the correlations between building roof topology and risk associated with wind, water, and context. The Cincinnati Insurance Company (CIC) funded the project with three phases totaling $154,689. The follow-up Phase 4 ($48,646) is in the contract signing stage. Teamed with CIC, we developed a predictive machine learning algorithm with a convolutional neural network to predict building typologies and various characteristics associated with roof risk.
